I still believe that Apple is eventually going to roll out versions of its App Store across its different products, including the Apple TV. Applications are selling like crazy in the App Store (300 million downloads so far) and a lot of them, like the games, would make just as much sense on a television. Don’t believe me? Check out the video embedded below.

Using an undocumented iPhone software development kit feature that allows for outputting to a television, Freeverse, the makers of the hit iPhone game Moto Chaser, accepted a challenge by the blog Ars Technica to port their app to the TV. Not only did it work, it looks great.

And what’s really insane is that it apparently only took the Freeverse team a few hours to do this port. Even better, you still use the iPhone to control the game on the TV screen.

If Apple isn’t already working on something like this, it should be, like right now. (Apple already has its Remote app which allows you to use the iPhone (or iPod touch) to control your Apple TV or iTunes on your computer.)

The iPhone and iPod touch are becoming a serious gaming platform — and this is the next step. Hell, it might even move the Apple TV from a “hobby” (as Apple chief executive Steve Jobs has called it in the past), into a business.
