Yahoo exec: We’d be crazy not to make a Google Glass app

When Yahoo talks about mobile, it's not just referring to tablets and smartphones. It's also talking about the smartwatches, visors, and God knows what else you'll be using next year and the year after that.

Yahoo is showing a renewed focus on design for mobile devices today. And when the Yahoo team talks about mobile devices, they’re not just referring to the tablets and smartphones you’re using today. “It would be crazy not to be looking at all these new devices and new ideas, from things hitting the market now like Google Glass or things that are just rumors like Apple’s watch.”

Ultimately, Yahoo mobile director Marco Wirasinghe concluded, it all comes down to making the most of what Yahoo already has and making it fit on the right devices at the right times for the right people.

“We have a lot of content and understanding about our users. We’re now trying to find the right screens in their lives to make that meaningful.”

While the execs couldn’t comment on specific app ideas, we can imagine that Glass apps for Weather and Flickr might be pretty darn meaningful. Either way, it’s exciting to think about — and could be a big shot in the arm for Yahoo’s brand.
