Hootsuite adds support for Dropbox, Google Drive, Box, and Microsoft OneDrive

Hootsuite has integrated itself into more services, giving social media managers additional resources for outreach and engagement with their company’s customers. Starting today, Hootsuite now allows photos and GIFs to be imported directly from Dropbox, Google Drive, Box, Microsoft OneDrive, and others to use when creating tweets, posts on Facebook and LinkedIn, and anything else related to social media.

Although video isn’t immediately supported, Hootsuite promises that integrations are in development and will be available “later this quarter.”

Adding support for cloud services is part of Hootsuite’s strategy to become the de facto dashboard for all your social media needs. Whether for personal or business usage, the company wants to demonstrate that it can scale to meet everyone’s needs, no matter what industry or business.

“Content is king, and that’s never more true than for social,” said Hootsuite global vice president of partners Kevin Zellmer. “Integrating with leading content sources…will enable our customers to leverage their curated assets so their posts can be timely and relevant.”

In an age of collaboration and mobility, people are no longer storing content on their local devices — it’s all in the cloud for better accessibility. When social media managers are working on a project and need quick access to a GIF, for example, they can pull it from Dropbox or Box after it it’s created and uploaded by a designer. It can also be a useful way for everyone in the company to use the same creative assets when it comes to marketing campaigns, public relations, or even customer support.

Besides Dropbox, Google Drive, Box, and Microsoft OneDrive, Hootsuite also supports UpContent, MediaValet, FlashStock, and WebDAM. All of these tools join with previous integrations, including those specializing in analytics, collaboration, email marketing, and customer relationship management (CRM).
