You will already be familiar with share buttons from social giants such as Facebook, Twitter, and Reddit, a feature that, as the name suggests, makes it easier to share content you find online with friends. Now, Skype is getting in on the act.
The Microsoft-owned company, better known for its VoIP software that lets you talk with friends online anywhere in the world, is launching its new share button with MSN.com to begin with, and with Sify.com, in India. Developers can also add the Skype share button to their own websites, choosing from among four different designs suited for either mobile or desktop.

When you click the share button, you’ll be prompted to sign in with your Skype credentials, after which you’ll be able to share links with friends on Skype, alongside a message.
It’s not yet clear how many people will choose to share content in such a way through Skype, but, if nothing else, it’s a gentle reminder from the communications giant that it, too, is a social network.
