It’s not always easy to make intellectual property law sexy and/or hilarious, but this stuff pretty much writes itself.

Bang With Friends, the supremely awkward Facebook app that lets you find folks in your social graph interested in having sex with you, just got served.

Zynga is taking the BWF team to court, claiming that the app’s name violates the gaming company’s “with friends” suite of casual social games, including Chess With Friends and Words With Friends (a Scrabble clone).

(Although, one could argue that random sex with your acquaintances constitutes a casual social game in its own right and that Zynga should just acquire BWF already.)

The complaint from Zynga says that BWF “selected the name ‘Bang With Friends’ for its casual sex matchmaking app with Zynga’s game trademarks fully in mind” and asks that the app be prohibited from using its current name.

We’re still working on our helpful list of new names for the app. “Friends With Benefits” seems like an obvious choice, but “Bang With That Girl You Met One Time At Steve’s Dolores Park Birthday Picnic” clearly has a ring to it.

Bang With Friends has had a tough time all around of late. The app was banished from the iOS App Store back in May with little explanation offered. It isn’t back yet, but bangers and bangees can still use the web app.
