Turkey day pictures help Instagram set a new upload record

Photo sharing social network Instagram reached a new record over the Thanksgiving Day holiday.

Users uploaded over 10 million photos mentioning the holiday via photo captions in some form or fashion yesterday. Instagram also reports that during several peak times, users were sharing upwards of 200 turkey day photos per second — At the highest point (12:40 p.m. PT), users hit 226 photos per second.

“Overall, the day broke all Instagram records as we saw the number of shared photos more than double from the day before, making it our busiest day so far,” Instagram wrote in a blog post.
