Twitter will hold its second annual Flight developer conference in San Francisco on October 21

In September, Twitter announced it was organizing a new annual conference aimed around mobile app development. Today, the company has revealed when the 2015 edition will be held. Twitter Flight will be on October 21, 2015 at San Francisco’s Bill Graham Civic Center and will include two new technical tracks, as well as an update on its data platform and API.

The company says that developers will hear from Twitter executives and members of its product team to find out the latest in how it’s supporting the ecosystem. Three tracks of technical sessions will also be on the agenda, such as a deep-dive session on Gnip, the enterprise data platform company Twitter acquired for $134 million in 2014, and Fabric; technical and behind-the-scenes “lightning talks”; and more.

At last year’s Flight conference, Twitter unveiled Fabric, a new modular software development kit that features three SDKs to allow developers to tap into more platform services, its ad network MoPub, and its crash reporting platform Crashlytics. Then-CEO Dick Costolo also unveiled Twitter Kit, a way for developers to integrate “Sign in with Twitter” functionality and more into their apps.

This year’s Flight conference is certainly an important one, as it will be the first time with its new CEO (or at least an interim one). It also comes at a time when the company is looking for ways to keep users on its service, while also finding the right way to define itself. Developers have always been a group Twitter has sought to woo; even though there were some tough times now and then, Twitter needs them to help shape how the company will look in the future. It certainly can’t do it on its own — Wall Street knows this.
