Facebook data scientists have put their heads together in the past few days and analyzed what U.S. users have said they’re thankful for, ahead of Thanksgiving.
Now, the results of the exploration of things people have written after being challenged to identify the three things they’re thankful for in the next five days might not be perfectly representative of all Americans: “90 percent of people who participated identified as female on their profile,” data scientists Lada Adamic, Moira Burke, Funda Kivran-Swaine, and Winter Mason wrote in a blog post about their findings today.

It’s only natural to come to interesting conclusions when you have a big data set to work with, thanks to a hefty user base, and today’s research is the latest proof.
The data scientists poked around state by state and observed that, among other things, Californians like their YouTube and Alabamans go in for “God’s forgiveness.” Oregonians are gaga for yoga, while Hawaiians like rainbows.
